Senator Inn and Spa Institutes Zero Tolerance Policy Against Trans Fats
(Augusta, ME) The Senator Inn & Spa, a privately owned and operated inn committed to health and relaxation, today announced the institution of a zero tolerance policy against trans fats. Under the Senator’s new policy, no food prepared or served at the Senator’s Cloud 9 restaurant, bar, guest rooms or banquet facilities will contain partially hydrogenated oils. Partially hydrogenated oils are man-made, commonly found in processed foods and commercially baked products and laden with trans fat.

Cooks Fight National Restaurant Trend
Senator Inn & Spa Unveils New Restaurant Concept
(Augusta, ME) Vern and Betsy Cook, owners of the Senator Inn & Spa Restaurant in Augusta, are turning up the heat on their national restaurant chain competitors. Never known for complacency, the Cooks will unveil a new restaurant concept that has been simmering for more than a year.
The new restaurant, aptly named Cloud 9 at the Senator Inn & Spa, will feature gourmet brick oven pizza and freshly-made Italian style pasta in addition to the creative cuisine and desserts the Senator has been known for over the years. Gone are the furniture, fixtures and white tablecloths symbolic of the Senator’s heretofore semi-formal dining experience. In their place, Cloud 9 diners will see stylish new tables and chairs, colorful wall art created by local artisans and nine individually shaped, blue and white cloud murals recessed into the ceiling - the inspiration behind the new name.

Best Western Hotels Bestows Prestigious 2004 Best of the Best Design to the Senator Inn & Spa of Augusta Maine
(Augusta, ME) Best Western Motels announced today that the Senator Inn & Spa has received 2004 Best of the Best Design Award for their newly renovated and expanded spa and fitness facility. The Best of the Best Design Awards recognize Best Western affiliated worldwide hotels that have undergone renovation or new construction within the past two years. The Senator Inn & Spa received the highest score in their geographic district based on the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) criteria. Hundreds of properties were judged by a panel of professional members from ASID and the American Institute of Architects and included such specifications as scale and proportion, color and composition, creative use of space, effective use of lighting, custom design and architectural design. Furthermore, the competition considered unique design challenges and issues that were overcome by the entrants.
